Seeing them shriek and hug and fall all over each other's feet was one of the most heart-warming scenes I've ever witnessed. It's like watching old friends reunite, and while they were exactly that, there was something more than that binding them. It was something I didn't share with them, the kind of bond years of friendship and working together creates. The kind of bond that happens naturally, the kind you wait for, and doesn't just happen with a couple kind words and shared secrets.
I wondered if I could ever have that kind of friendship with them someday. The thought that I might not was enough to dampen my week.
